Spotfire® Mods are innovative, “grab-and-go” custom visualization and analytics apps that leverage the power of Spotfire® software for a seamless, fit-for-purpose analytics experience. The Mods cloud-enabled framework makes it easy for anyone to build, share, and use them to power new insights and create new visuals.
At TAF 2023, we saw an exciting presentation on what Mods are and how you can get started with them, featuring our newly released Violin Plot Mod, which you can learn more about below.
What are Spotfire Mods?
Spotfire Mods empower you to develop new, impactful visualizations—extending the palette of visualization capabilities to all users. Not a developer? No worries! Even business analysts can use the grab-and-go Mods to build fully governed but completely custom apps, all without coding. Spotfire Mods look, feel, and interact with all native charts in a Spotfire analysis but give you the added benefit of custom visualizations, unique to your use cases.
The new Violin Plot Mod
We’re always looking to add more extensions to the platform and are excited to announce our latest Mod. The Violin Plot Mod is a combined violin and box plot visualization that shows and compares data distributions and data sets.
The Violin Plot Mod can:
- Easily compare the key statistical measures for different groups of data
- Visualize the distributions of data populations alongside statistical measures—revealing underlying subtleties in the data, while visualizing the overall shape of the data
The Violin Plot Mod is key for many industries and use cases. It can identify trends in data, visualize data over time, and give strong insights into outliers and sudden variations, which can be useful across industries.
Manufacturing: Compare the yield of manufacturing processes, machines, or batches—easily visualizing them side-by-side. With the visualization, you can determine which process, machine, or batch significantly differs from others.
Life Sciences: Compare patient cohorts—visualizing adverse event occurrence between different treatments, or different sets of patients, stratified by some measure.
How can I get started with Mods?
You can get started with Mods by downloading a grab-and-go Mod from the Community exchange or by developing your own. And as the video mentions, you can reach out to our experts too for a Mods kick-start session via datascience@spotfire.com.
Customize Spotfire, your way
